Values Based Leadership

Values based leadership, a leadership style that embeds your company culture.  Lots or organisations now have a set of company values, the more enlighten companies recognise the power and benefit of having these fully engrained in the way they work and they way leaders lead.

We challenged the Leaders in one location  of the Laidlaw Group to spend a full day exploring what values based leadership was all about. After exploring their own personal values and success and starting to understand what was important to them as individuals we then explored in more detail what the company values actually meant.

Was their joint understanding and interpretation, what did good behaviour under each of the values look like? How would they recognise it in others, what would they do when they saw good behaviour?

After exploring the values we then went to what does this mean in the way that they lead, how do they bring these to life daily? How does it impact on the decisions that they make and way operating? This really starts to focus the attention on the fact that leaders often forget the company values when they make decisions.

We left them having completed a self-assessment about themselves against their leadership approach in connection with the values and them making firm commitments as to what they would do to improve their scores.
